This paper examines the techniques used for presenting the stream of consciousness in three novels by Virginia Woolf Mrs Dalloway, To the Lighthouse and The Waves, while taking into consideration the author's critical essays. The paper analyses the narrative approach to the stream of consciousness in terms of Henri Bergson's philosophy of time. Special emphasis is put on the use of narrative anachrony throughout the novels for representing Bergson's concept of duration. |
