Zdravstveni djelatnici su također i pretrpjeli najveću ''štetu'' tijekom borbe protiv virusa zbog novonastalih brojnih problema među zdravstvenim osobljem u smisli povećane razine stresa, tjeskobe, depresije i straha. Introduction: The coronavirus pandemic has affected the whole world. This pandemic is one of the greatest threats that humanity has experienced in terms of disease and epidemics. For the fight against COVID-19, the greatest credit can be attributed to health workers on the front line of the fight against this invisible enemy. Health workers have also suffered the greatest "damage" during the fight against the virus due to the newly emerging numerous problems among health workers in terms of increased levels of stress, anxiety, depression and fear. This is exactly the reason why it is necessary to allow the healthcare worker proper and sufficient time to adapt to work in new departments, in this case adaptation to work in the COVID wards. Aim: The aim of the work is to examine the incidence of transition shock among nurses and technicians who were reassigned to work from their home departments to work in the COVID departments or are still working in the COVID departments of the Clinical Hospital Center. Materials and methods: 120 respondents from KBC Split participated in the research, of which 76 were nurses and 44 were medical technicians. The measurement instrument used in the research is a survey questionnaire in online form. The first part of the questionnaire referred to general and sociodemographic characteristics of the respondents, while the second part of the questionnaire consisted of the Transition Shock Scale and the COVID-19 Questionnaire Results: Interesting and somewhat unexpected results were obtained within the research. Although the majority of employees in the COVID wards are younger nurses and technicians, we notice a lower level of transition shock among older employees. Older employees had a better adaptation but also had more difficulties in performing activities after a working day, which speaks in favor of excessive exhaustion during the working day. Younger employees felt more frustrated and anxious. Nurses and technicians who participated in this research believe that it is extremely important to have a dose of authority and hierarchy in the COVID wards, but which does not turn into fear and depression patterned by excessive authority. Conclusion: Although the hypotheses of this research have not been proven, it is of great importance to provide employees with adequate support and proper working conditions. Working in the COVID departments is not an easy job, whether it is for younger or older employees, so it is necessary to make their work as easy as possible.
