Why Do You Get up on Monday Mornings? The Relationship Between Emotional intelligence, Organizational Justice, and Meaningful Work

Popis: Cilj je ovog istraživanja bio ispitati odnos između emocionalne inteligencije, organizacijske pravednosti i smislenosti posla. Ovaj se rad usmjerio i na proučavanje medijacijske uloge organizacijske pravednosti u međuodnosu između emocionalne inteligencije i smislenosti posla. Uzorak se sastojao od N = 534 sudionika koji su kod trenutačnog poslodavca bili zaposleni minimalno šest mjeseci. Sudionici su ispunjavali Upitnik emocionalne kompetentnosti (UEK-45), Upitnik pravednosti u organizacijskom kontekstu i Upitnik smislenosti posla. Rezultati pokazuju kako osobe s razvijenijom emocionalnom inteligencijom svoju organizaciju percipiraju pravednijom, kao i svoj posao smislenijim. Nadalje, emocionalna inteligencija i organizacijska pravednost pozitivni su prediktori smislenosti posla. Potvrđen je i posredujući učinak organizacijske pravednosti u međuodnosu između emocionalne inteligencije i smislenosti posla, što ujedno predstavlja i ključan doprinos ovoga rada. U radu se raspravlja i o teorijskim i praktičnim implikacijama. The aim of this research was to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence, organizational fairness and meaningfulness of work. This paper also focused on studying the mediating role of organizational fairness in the interrelationship between emotional intelligence and meaningfulness of work. The sample consisted of N = 534 participants who were employed by their current employer for a minimum of six months. The participants completed the Emotional Skills and Competence Questionnaire (ESCQ-45), the Fairness Questionnaire in organizational context and the Work and Meaning Inventory. The results show that people with more developed emotional intelligence perceive their organization as fairer, as well as their work as more meaningful. Furthermore, emotional intelligence and organizational fairness are positive predictors of meaningfulness of work. The mediating effect of organizational fairness in the interrelationship between emotional intelligence and meaningfulness of work was also confirmed, which is also a key contribution of this research. The research additionally discusses theoretical and practical implications.
