The term kindergarten is associated with an institution in which the programs, rules, organization of time and everything else that connects the kindergarten with proper and quality upbringing and education are clearly defined. Each kindergarten is different in its own way according to the philosophy of education, environment and general culture of society. Although such classic, traditional kindergartens are extremely suitable for children, experts such as pedagogues, doctors and educators state that children should still spend more time in nature. Spending time in nature encourages cognitive and social skills, motor skills and has a positive effect on general health (Louv, 2015). Forest kindergartens have become popular and are increasingly represented in many countries around the world because they enable children to develop in a natural environment where they can explore nature. Although there are some in Croatia, the number of forest kindergartens in the USA is much higher. Unlike forest kindergartens in our country, in the USA there are programs that include a full-day spending time in nature, no matter of the weather conditions. This paper is based on such kindergartens and the problem of children who do not spend enough time in nature. |
