The emergence of Whitehead's relativistic theory of gravitation cannot be understood without taking into account the historical context in which it emerged, the context of the British reception of Einstein's theories of relativity. The aim of this paper is to show that Whitehead personally knew all the major players in that reception history (every single one of them), and that his original, philosophically motivated composition of several factors in their work led to his own theory of gravity. |
