Proxies are sources of environmental information stored in natural archives. Processing the collected substrates to obtain the proxies, always involves sampling solid substrate. These sample always have a certain volume, this means that one sample will give a mean value for all the variation in that volume. Up until now, the volume of the sample was neglected. This is only allowed when the width of the sample is negligible with respect to the variation that needs to be reconstructed. However, when the width of the sample concerns a considerable part of the variation, the signal will be averaged and thus systematically underestimated. In this poster a correction method for this underestimation is proposed |
