According to the description of Work, the combined objective of deliverable D7.7 and 7.8 is to study offline and online community factors, and technological and non- technological privacy practices. Specifically, the deliverable consists of a paper titled "Intergroup Boundary Coordination and Privacy Rules: Using a Remix Approach for Studying Offline and Online Privacy in Youth Organizations." This paper was honored with the Carl J. Couch Internet Research Award. The Couch Award is presented annually by the Carl Couch Center for Social and Internet Research /www.ccsir.com/ and recognizes excellent student-authored papers. In deliverable 7.6 we presented a survey study /n=900/ and analyzed individual and group privacy management strategies in Facebook. In this deliverable we further contextualize and study offline and online privacy management by means of focus groups. 12 focus groups were organized with a total of 78 participants to discuss their privacy practices. The deliverable is structured as follows. We first present the entire paper /section 2- 7/. Hereafter, we give an overview of the sorts of group privacy management strategies that were found throughout the study /section 8/. |
