In Slovenia, the Ural Owl is a relatively poorly researched specie, which means that data on its breeding are very few indeed. In the forests of Kočevjeand Ribnica it occurs in a belt of mixed fir-beech woodland (Abieti-Fagetum dinaricum(, most often at altitudes ranging from 700 to 1000 m a. The Ural Owl's young and nests were found in spring and summer at eleven different localities, and on two occasions the climbing young were observed even in August.
