Popis: The door openings affect the temperature evolution inside the refrigerated carriages, with potentially negative effects on food quality and safety. This influence is much larger in case of delivery appliances with respect to long distance carriages due to the large number of door openings per hour. While the ATP allows sizing the components in case of long distance appliances, where the effect of door opening is negligible, nothing is proposed for equipment used for delivery. The lack of a method to design the components can cause a loss of temperature control in case of low sizing or larger financial investments in case of oversizing. This paper provides a sizing method for delivery carriages to account for door openings. The method is an adaptation of the one developed by CEN TC 413 which was based on a research study on delivery field practices and on characterization tests provided by laboratories which are familiar with ATP tests as well.
