This paper is focused on some symposium scenes painted on a cumean oinochoe belonging the so-called Raccolta Cumana, a collection of cumean finds brought to the light in the mid-19th century by the Count of Siracuse, Leopold I of Bourbon. Our oinochoe was attribuited to the LNO painter operating in the final decades of the 4th century BC. The images painted on the vase compose a real text to read; they intend to represent the traditional greek symposium performance; all the images and the combination of every single element intend to show us, in a clear and didactic way, the modalities to carry out a symposium according to the Greek values. |
