Considering the increasing number of interventions, which include a lot of burn injuries of firefighters and damage of their expensive equipment, it is necessary to analyze the existing condition of their training process and to identify dangerous situations in which they can be found, as well as sugest some activities for increasing their safety. The first part of his paper includes description of whole process of firefighter training, plus it's pros and cons. However, the second part of this paper contains a research in a form of a survey relating to a professional and volunteer firefighters from the teritory of Republic of Croatia. Based on analized data, which is collected by a survey and author's own experience in existing training conditions, it is possible to define a conceptional solution for building a virtual interactive simulator, which could be used in firefighter training process, whose main goal is to decrease the level of injuries and damage of their safety equipment, as well as increasing the readiness in a case of interventions on a whole new level.
