The analysis of spatial frames (static analysis) or plane frame structures, formed of beam elements according to the first order theory and analysis of dynamic parameters of plane frame structures using finite element method is presented in the paper. For the purposes of analysis and easier assembling of the stiffness matrices and mass matrices, a program Dynamic Ice was created in the programming language „Python“. The Dynamic Ice program can be applied for static analysis, as well as for computation of dynamic parameters, which are required either in classical dynamic analysis or in earthquake engineering (taking into account the requirement of the EC 8 code regarding cracking of cross-sections). This program uses the finite element method to analyze the static response as well as dynamic parameters of a frame structure. In order to compare the results of the dynamic analysis of the plane frame structure, program Crimp was additionally created that determines approximation of the fundamental period of vibration using the expression (4.9) from Eurocode 8: Design of structures for earthquake resistance. The most important difference between the two programs is the preparation of the stiffness matrix and the number of degrees of freedom.
