Škrlet is a white grape variety that belongs to the autochthonous variety of Croatia. High quality young wines can be made from this unique and by itself very good quality variety. This variety is the originator of clonal selection, because scientists have discovered that it has some unique properties and also that clones of these variety are resistant to viruses that attack other grape varieties. Because of this property, this grape variety is becoming very popular amongst vintners and buyers. Škrlet as white wine is very aromatic and fruity, slightly sour and refreshing because of a higher ammount of CO2 and somewhat lower pH. The main point of this paper is to show the specifics and characteristics of the autochthonous variety of white grape and wine Škrlet, by following the production through several consecutive harvests at the Miklaužić winery in the Moslavina vineyards.
