This contribution is dedicated to the modes of publication and circulation of the Codex Theodosianus, through a review of the evidence, both normative and handwritten. Research conducted in recent years as part of the REDHIS project has made it possible to identify no less than four new witnesses to the work, all of Eastern origin, in addition to the seven already known, almost all of Western origin. It is therefore possible to affirm that the Codex Theodosianus had a discrete diffusion also in the pars Orientis, and also to verify and extend the graphic and bookish variety of the circulating copies, confirming some trends (a standard format in BR uncial) and allowing a glimpse of others (the diffusion of copies of not high formal quality, perhaps for different uses). |
