to re–balance needs of an exponential population growth with the ones of a planet with increasingly limited resources. The present paper aims to analyse the territorial perspectives at the global scale as well as at the local one
by driving it out from the industrial–style production process that inspired advanced countries during last  years
questions related to the food system as production and distribution
also highlighting the most important initiatives promoted by the European Union about the whole reorganization of the food system. A particular attention is devoted to the meat consumption and to its related production
referring to an economic field that in last decades indubitably caused severe damages to the environment

the persistent spreading of intensive livestock models
that actually is in a consolidation phase
represents a serious and urgent problem to solve
