FOR WHICH A URGENT CONSERVATION ISSUE EXISTS SINCE ITS ENTIRE POPULATION HAS BEEN DECLINING AT LEAST SINCE THE 1980S. IN THIS WORK A METHODOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF EEL LOCAL STOCKS AT THE CATCHMENT SCALE AND FOR THE EVALUATION OF THE BIOMASS OF ESCAPING MATURE EELS WAS SET UP. THE REFERENCE SYSTEM IS THE BOLSENA LAKE WITH ITS EMISSARY

THAT IS A NATURAL GROWING HABITAT FOR EEL
BUT FRAGMENTIZED BY SEVERAL DAMS AND AN IMPORTANT FISHERY SITE. TWO SAMPLING CAMPAIGNS HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT
ONE TO ASSESS EFFECTIVENESS OF RESTORATION INTERVENTIONS FOR EEL COLONIZATION AND ESCAPEMENT IN THE RIVER MARTA AND THE SECOND TO CHARACTERIZE THE DEMOGRAPHIC AND GROWTH FEATURES OF THE LOCAL POPULATION IN THE BOLSENA LAKE. ACCORDINGLY
A DETAILED DEMOGRAPHIC MODEL WAS DEVELOPED TO ALLOW US TO REALISTICALLY SIMULATE THE FISHERY YIELDS AND SILVER EEL PRODUCTION UNDER DIFFERENT RECRUITMENT AND MANAGEMENT SCENARIOS (SCENARIO A
