A critical edition of Alfred Jesionowski's writings, concerning his brochures on the literature of Silesian uprisings, on the Polish question in Silesia seen in the mirror of German literature, Polish literature in Silesia in the first 3 decades of the 20th century, and, on the religious motives in modern literature. Moreover, the book includes a large panorama of Jesionowski's critics in literature and art, his reportages from Paris, his polemics and reflections on Polish culture and its regional varieties, as far as his reflections on the dynamics of literary and artistic creation. The selection of Jesionowski's texts is accompanied with a biographical introduction, presenting different aspects of his activities (pedagogy, literary and art criticism, journalism, radio performance, and, last but not least, underground fight for the independence of Poland during the 2nd world war. The wide selection of Jesionowski's texts is accompanied with an in-depth critical study of his writings and his biography. |
