Popis: | In archaeological practice slowly appears a shift from presenting and analyzing three-dimensional data in 2D to displaying and analyzing them in 3D environment also as a component of field work. This kind of approach opens new possibilities that archaeologists can and should take advantage of. This paper is aimed at researching one of that possibilities by presenting an application of 3D environment- which for the purpose of this article was named the Visual Viewshed Simulation. Using data in 3D environment allows to confront traditional visibility analyzes with a simulation that makes possible to (re)construct the visibility of objects in the field, taking into account additional factors like atmospheric and lighting conditions. This approach can give archaeology another way of researching people-place relations and might be important especially in landscape archaeology. |
