Popis: U radu je prikazana proizvodnja polihidroksialkanoata (PHA) na tri razine bioprocesa: procesnoj razini, razini mikrobnih stanica i razini enzima odnosno molekularnoj razini. Također su opisane sirovine koje se koriste u industrijskoj proizvodnji PHA, te je dan pregled razvoja procesa proizvodnje PHA iz industrijski značajnih sekundarnih sirovina: otpada mliječne industrije (sirutke), otpadnih voda i otpada iz mesnoprerađivačke industrije, a istaknuti su i čimbenici koji doprinose održivosti proizvodnje. U zadnjem dijelu prikazani su postupci izdvajanja i pročišćavanja PHA iz mikrobne biomase, te je prikazan potencijal proizvodnje PHA iz sekundarnih sirovina u Republici Hrvatskoj. The thesis presents the production of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) at three levels of bioprocesses: process level, microbial cell level and enzyme level or molecular level. The raw materials used in the industrial production of PHA are also described, and an overview of the PHA production process from industrially significant secondary raw materials (whey waste, wastewater, and waste from the meat processing industry) is given. Altought, the factors contributing to sustainable production are emphasised. In the last part, the procedures for the separation and purification of PHA from microbial biomass are presented, and the potential for the production of PHA from secondary raw materials in the Republic of Croatia are discussed.
