The settlements in the Tiber Valley have a landscape dimension that today represents a particular element in the characterization and perception of historical urban contexts. The area features a specific morphology determined by tuffaceous rock and the typical landscape of alluvial plains, determined by the Tiber River. Castelnuovo di Porto was a small medieval village situated in Veio Park, in the north of Rome, which even today still preserves its original urban structure. The paper aims to illustrate - through an analysis of historical-iconographic sources - the image, or rather the images, of the site, and the relationship between transformation/ restoration realized over time and especially since the end of the 18th century until the latest urban expansion. |
