The dissertation covers the study of Slovene journal reports during Christmas in the time of World War I, which is put in the context of the conditions on Slovenian grounds right before and during the war. The dissertation gives an insight into journal reports, specifically the ones which wrote about Christmas topics, and to what extent these newspapers covered them. It also provides an answer to questions such as whether reporting was dedicated to the civilian population only or were reports also written for soldiers, what was the editorial attitude towards the war like – was the war praised or looked down on? All these questions are answered by analysing four selected newspapers, namely the liberal Slovenski narod, the catholic Slovenec and Domoljub, and the teaching bulletin Učiteljski tovariš. |
