Njuna opisa slovenskega jezika izkazujeta individualne zmogljivosti avtorjev in upoštevanje tedaj vodilne slovenske slovnice Antona Janežiča. This article presents the work of Jan Václav Lego (1833–1906) and František Vymazal (1841–1917) in the last third of the nineteenth century in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Lego, the leading figure of Czech and Slovenian cooperation for at least half a century, was a journalist and teacher that also authored Slovenian grammars (1887, 1893) Vymazal was a language teacher and translator, and he also wrote several textbooks in multiple European languages. His Slovenian grammar (1884) was the first in Bohemia. Their grammars reveal the unique skills of both of the authors. They gained some of their knowledge from Anton Janežič’s Slovenian grammar, the leading one during their time.
