Throughout this Thesis, the energy efficiency of a company's facilities has been studied with the aim of presenting a list of proposals to optimize its energetic consumption and costs. That equals to adjusting the electricity usage to the real needs of employees and implementing mechanisms to save energy by avoiding losses during the process. This document starts analysing the current energetic situation worldwide. Followed by market research on energy resources to comprehend how are they evolving. Moreover, a thorough study of which are the current measures for fighting against the rise of prices of electricity in Spain has been carried out. Currently, electricity prices fluctuate depending on the time. A thorough data analysis of these changes in price over time has been done to comprehend how this can affect the consumption schedule of the company. The company in question is engaged in the testing, inspection, and certification sector. Throughout the facilities there are several laboratories from different sectors and therefore the way of consuming energy is not uniformly distributed within the buildings. Bearing this in mind, energetic consumption data from the facilities has been gathered to understand the consumption habits of each laboratory and office and look for possible areas of improvement. This analysis has been complemented with the price analysis done previously to obtain current costs. As part of the energetic data study, another factor worth of studying is the monthly electricity bill. The contracted tariff is one of the most determining factors and depends on the type of energy consumption of the company. Finally, a list of improvement proposals has been suggested. These proposals can improve energy efficiency without having to reduce consumption and therefore upgrade the cost- effectiveness of the energy used. On the other hand, they also promote the reduction of consumption, which as a direct consequence reduces costs and the company's environmental impact. The Bachelor’s Degree pursued is based on the study of Economic Analysis and Industrial Engineering. The knowledge acquired during this degree on how markets work, and when market equilibrium is reached has been transferred to this Thesis to understand how the electricity market works. On the other hand, the industrial engineering subjects such as environmental management, resistance of materials or data management have enhanced the understanding of the topics covered throughout the Thesis and the knowledge learned throughout these years can be reflected in the work |
