The international workshop on the "Physics of Interfaces by SynchrotronRadiation and other High Energy Probes" was held at the "Physikzentrum" in Bad Honnef, FRG, from 21 to 25 April, 1986. lt brought together about 70 scientists from 10 countries. A first international workshop devoted to the investigation of solid surfaces was held at Les Hauches, France, on 3 - 14 March 1980 and concentrated on photoemission studies. In the present workshop emphasis was put on the investigation by experimental and theoretical techniques of structural, electronic and magnetic properties of interfaces, including vacuum-solid, metal-semiconductor, semiconductor-semiconductor, metal-metal, vapor-liquid, and liquid-solid interfaces. The program consisted of 22 invited lectures and a round-table discussion. Ample time was devoted to lively and fruitful discussions. The present document presents the results of these activities in the form of a summary and abstracts of the invited talks, as well as a list of the participants. The organizers would like to thank all lecturers, session chairmen and participants for creating the stimulating atmosphere that made their workshop successful and pleasant. On behalf of all participants they would like to thank Dr. P. Debrus, DPG, and 1. Kluth and the staff from the Elly-Hölterhoff-Bticking-Stiftung, who provided the ecxellent ambience that was enjoyed by all of us. The financial support of this workshop by the Stiftung Volkswagenwerk Hannover, and the Kernforschungsanlage Jülich GmbH, is gratefully acknowledged. |
