Jurnal Musik : Jurnal Ilmiah Seni Musik Vol. 1, No. 2, Juli 2009, p. 133-146 This article aims to discuss the history of Javanese Gamelan, many elements within Javanese Gamelan Music, and further it also aims to explore the influence of Gamelan music on some Western classical composers such as Claude Debussy and Lou Harrison in composing their musical works. To discuss this issue I shad give a background history of Indonesia as a nation, an explanation on Gamelan music structures, and its influence toward the Western composers such as Claude Debussy and Lou Harrison.
