Students Perception on Teacher Feedback in an Academic Writing Class

Popis: This mixed-method study investigated students' perception of teachers' feedback in Academic Writing Classes at a private university in Salatiga. A close-ended questionnaire was distributed to 60 EFL students in the classes, and the interviews were conducted with 6 students. The data were determined and interpreted through qualitative and quantitative procedures. The results showed that theteacher's feedback helped the students develop their writing ideas, minimize their grammatical errors, and encourage them to revise their work. The positive feedback from the teachers is beneficial for the students’ next assignment, improving the writing and grammatical skills. Meanwhile, the students also experienced the negative feedback from the teachers: the feedback was too difficult to understand, made the students unconfident about their writing ability, and hurt the students’ feelings.
