Popis: | WOS: 000259856300004 Objective: The aim of the present study was to determine the normal values of ligamentum cruciatum anterius (LCA) thickness and the intercondylar notch dimensions as well as the role of intercondylar notch on the LCA damage. Material and Methods: Knee joint images obtained by magnetic resonance imaging were scanned with optical disc and 257 cases without any pathological finding in the knee joint and in its bones were included in this study. While 211 cases had normal knee joints, 46 cases had damaged knee joints. For each knee evaluated, intercondylar notch dimensions and LCA thickness were recorded as well as their age, sex, weight and knee direction. LCA thicness for each case was determined using coronal sections, On the other hand, intercondylar notch dimensions for each case was determined using axial sections. Results:The mean LCA thickness in women was 4.6 +/- 0.6 mm whereas it was 5.3 +/- 0.9 nun in men. In the damaged LCA group, notch angels, notch index and notch width were smaller in the articular sites. However, interestingly, LCA thickness was increased. Conclusion: Statiscically significant differences in those parameters indicate a stenosis in the anterior exit of the intercondylar notch. |
