In Brazil, the Ministry of Health utilizes the term Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (ICPs) when referring to practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine. ICPs include a range of therapeutic approaches, with new methods of assessing and treating individuals, anchored in fundamental personal relations, which makes the treatment simpler, without excessive use of technologies and medications, providing self-care awareness and giving greater autonomy to the patient. This research aimed to evaluate the supply and production of Integrative and Complementary Practices in Health in the Unified Health System in the State of Ceará. It was an ecological study with temporal and exploratory analysis, having as its unit of analysis the State of Ceará, from 2008 to 2018. The source of the data consisted on the Ambulatory Information System from the Unified Health System, Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, and National Register of Health Facilities. In the period from 2008 to 2018, the State of Ceará indicated 293 health establishments that offered ICPs through Brazilian Unified Health System. Of these, each property may provide more than one type of service, either outpatient or hospital. Related to supply and production of ICPs, the results indicate a superior offer regarding to the number of establishments that register production. The data indicate establishments that have an offer of ICPs but have no production (69.3%), establishments that offer ICPs and produce them (24.3%), and even those that do not offer and do not produce ICPs (6.4%). From 2008 to 2018, there were 209,282 attendances related to the offer of ICPs. Of these, the highest records were acupuncture (needle insertion, suction cup/moxa and electrostimulation), with 145,117 (69.3%) of the registered attendances, followed by homeopathy with 31,885 (15.2%) of the registered attendances. Auriculotherapy indicates records of 15,220 (7.3%) attendances and body practices total 12,285 (6.1%) attendances. Massage therapy, community therapy, music therapy, biodance, yoga, reiki, meditation and chiropractic were had a minimum number of operation ( |
