| Popis: | This paper aimed to discuss the understanding of teachers, who work in professional education, regarding the tourist phenomenon. Being the main activity of the municipality of Barreirinhas, Maranhão, main seat of the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, ecotourism is the object of study of this work. We tried to understand the sharing of teachers' reality, based on the theoretical framework of Social Representations. Tourism was also presented from the perspective of SISTUR. In this sense, it is an exploratory and descriptive research, with a qualitative approach. Teachers' representations of tourism in Lençóis Maranhenses demonstrate that tourist services and public management have hampered the development of tourism in the region. The studied group recognized that there is great potential in the activity, due to the structure of means of accommodation and the natural heritage in which ecotourism is its main activity. Neste artigo pretendeu-se discutir o entendimento de professores, que trabalham no ensino profissionalizante, a respeito do fenômeno turístico. Sendo uma importante atividade do município de Barreirinhas, Maranhão, e principal sede do Parque Nacional dos Lençóis Maranhenses, o ecoturismo é o objeto de estudo deste trabalho. Procurou-se compreender o compartilhamento da realidade dos professores a partir do referencial teórico das Representações Sociais. O turismo foi analisado pela perspectiva do SISTUR. Neste sentido, trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória e descritiva, com abordagem qualitativa. As representações dos professores sobre o turismo nos Lençóis Maranhenses aponta que os serviços de atendimento ao turista e a gestão pública tem dificultado o desenvolvimento da atividade turística na região. O grupo estudado reconheceu que há grande potencialidade na atividade, em razão da estrutura de meios de hospedagem e do patrimônio natural no qual o ecoturismo é a sua principal atividade. |
