| Popis: | Objective: prevalence, prevalence and factors associated with metabolic syndrome (MS) in community-dwelling elderly. Methodology: this is a cross-sectional study, nested in a population-based cohort, with 259 elderly people aged ≥60 years from the city of Aiquara-BA. Data collection was carried out from January to June 2015, in three phases: questionnaire request at home; measurement of anthropometric measurements; carrying out laboratory tests. The MS was identified using the criteria defined by the National Cholesterol Education Program's - Adult Treatment Panel III. Descriptive and inferential statistics were performed.
