The present research presents the development and characterization of geopolymeric mortars based on metacaulinite evaluating the substitution in 25%, 50% and 100% of the small aggregate by background ash from local potteries and that is an unavoidable byproduct and without sustainable destination. In order to obtain purer precursors, it was chosen to produce metacaulinite manually, the collected kaolinite clay was calcined at a temperature of 750 ?? C for 4 hours, using active silica, deionized water and sodium hydroxide as the alkaline activator. Fluorescence and xray diffraction techniques were used for the chemical and mineralogical characterization of kaolinite and metacaulinite and through the simple compression strength test the mechanical performance of the specimens was obtained. The mechanical results reached 45 MPA in 100% substitution and also indicated that proportions less than 50% are not feasible because they reduce the resistance. Regarding the physical properties of the mixture, the results show that the geopolymer mortars produced in the present work resemble the geopolymer mortars studied in other researches. In view of this, it is concluded that the incorporation of bottom ash for the production of geopolymeric mortars makes the material technically compatible with conventional cements materials. O aumento da utiliza????o de materiais ciment??cios e as consequ??ncias negativas que essa utiliza????o provoca ao meio ambiente, faz com que haja grandes esfor??os no desenvolvimento de pequisas que buscam novos materiais, menos poluentes, com compacbilidade t??cnica e baixo custo. A presente pesquisa apresenta o desenvolvimento e caracteriza????o de argamassas geopolim??ricas a base de metacaulinita avaliando a substitui????o em 25%, 50% e 100% do agregado mi??do por cinza de fundo proveniente de olariais locais e que ?? um subproduto inevit??vel e sem destina????o sustent??vel. De forma a obter precursores mais puros, optou-se por produzir a metacaulinita manualmente, a argila caulin??tica regional coletada foi calcinada na temperatura de 750 ??C durante 4 horas, utilizou-se s??lica ativa, ??gua deionizada e hidr??xido de s??dio como ativador alcalino. Utilizou-se t??cnicas de fluoresc??ncia e difra????o de raio x para a caracteriza????o qu??mica e mineral??gica da argila caulinitica e da metacaulinita e atrav??s do ensaio de resist??ncia a compress??o simples foi obtido o desempenho mec??nico dos corpos de prova. Os resultados mec??nicos chegaram a 45 MPA em 100% de substitui????o e tamb??m indicaram que propor????es menores que 50% s??o invi??veis, pois reduzem a resist??ncia. Referente as propriedades f??sicas da mistura, os resultados mostram que as argamassas geopolim??rica produzidas no presente trabalho se assemelham as argamassas geopolim??ricas estudadas em outras pesquisas. Diante disso, conclui-se que a incorporac??o de cinza de fundo para produ????o de argamassas geopolim??ricas torna o material tecnicamente compat??vel com materiais ciment??cios convencionais.
