It can be found in many tropical regions of the world although it is still underreported in many countries. It is emerging in Brazil and was recognized in an outbreak in the state of Ceará. However, despite the fact that the disease was confirmed in Brazil 17 years ago, very little is known by medical professionals through training, discussions and publications. The objective of the study was to develop a model of continuing education in melioidosis for medical professionals with adaptation of the PRECEDE PROCEED model of intervention in collective health promotion, in addition to assessing knowledge about melioidosis and the effectiveness of the proposed educational intervention. The educational intervention study was exploratory, quasi experimental, quantitative and qualitative. It was carried out in a public hospital in Fortaleza, affiliated to a Higher Education Institution, from November to December 2020. The res earch population of study consisted of medical professionals. Data were collected through a questionnaire with a test of knowledge before and after intervention with structured questions. The sample consisted of everyone who answered the questionnaire before and after educational intervention. To assess the participants 'perception of the educational experience, an instrument was used to quantify learning satisfaction using Likert scales. The variables were grouped as follows: characterization of the professionals' sample, pre and post intervention scores, study (learning objectives; participant¿ effort; impact on the educational process, facilitation and reinforcement activities; proposed experience and online activities) and overall assessment of the educational experience. The educational intervention consisted of training activities containing following stages: predisposition, facilitation, reinforcement and evaluation, adapted from the PRECEDE-PROCEED model. Our results show that the mean of the pre-test was 59.1 ± 19 points (maximum 150), much lower than that of the post-test (89.0 ± 22.3, p
