Popis: | High consumption of ultraprocessed foods and sedentary behavior have contributed significantly to the increase in the epidemic of obesity, especially in children and adolescents. Ultraprocessed foods are rich in sugar, fat and / or salt, and increasingly present in the world's food supply, replacing in natura or minimally processed foods. The objective of the present study was to verify the association between sedentary behavior and food consumption from ultraprocessed foods in school adolescents in the city of. Data from 1288 schoolchildren of both sexes, aged from 10 to 14 years old, were enrolled in the Longitudinal Study on Sedentary Behavior, Physical Activity, Eating Habits and Adolescent Health - LONCAAFS study. Sociodemographic data, sedentary behaviors and food consumption were evaluated. The measurement of sedentary behaviors was assessed through a questionnaire and food consumption was obtained by two 24-hour Reminders (R24h), one of which was applied in a sub-sample. Food items were classified according to the NEW classification that accompanies the extent and degree of industrial processing, in four groups: in natura or minimally processed, culinary ingredients, processed and ultraprocessed. The association between ultraprocessed food consumption and sedentary behavior was performed by crude and adjusted logistic regression analyzes. The prevalence of energy consumed by ultraprocessed foods was 43% and 76.4% of the adolescents in the studied population had some type of sedentary behavior.
