Considerando-se que o Instituto Federal do Sudeste de Minas Gerais ? ente p?blico, analisa-se como a? se discutiu e se implementa essa lei. Essa pesquisa ? qualitativa; com o m?todo estudo de caso e objetivo descritivo, realizaram-se levantamentos em atas de reuni?es dos Conselhos Superior e de Ensino, relat?rios de gest?o e e-mails trocados por gestores; usaram-se di?rio de campo e question?rio respondido por respons?veis pela institucionaliza??o do N?cleo de Estudos Afro-Brasileiros e Ind?genas (NEABI). Procedeu-se ? an?lise das respostas dadas ao question?rio com a t?cnica de an?lise de conte?do; descrevem-se e analisam-se os dados coletados. Evidencia-se que as discuss?es sobre o processo de implementa??o da pol?tica p?blica ocorreram pontualmente. As poucas atas que as registram o fazem em meras s?nteses, impossibilitando resgatar a mem?ria de poss?veis conflitos em torno da ado??o da lei. Assim, nessa institui??o onde, em 2020, 76% dos servidores se autodeclararam de ra?a/cor branca, 15% da ra?a/cor parda e 4% da ra?a/cor preta, n?o h? ind?cio documental de contrariedade com rela??o ? ado??o das chamadas ?cotas raciais?. Nela, a aplica??o da lei foi discutida pelos seus gestores ? respons?veis por resolver quest?es burocr?ticas sobre a aplica??o da lei ? e pelos membros do NEABI, pequeno grupo de servidores que compreendem a import?ncia de se pesquisar e discutir o racismo e a luta antirracista. Constata-se que o NEABI ? o grande defensor de que a efetiva??o da lei assegure acesso do negro ? Educa??o de qualidade. Mesmo com n?mero reduzido de servidores e falta de recursos pr?prios, o NEABI foi institucionalizado em 2020. Os informantes chamam aten??o para a posi??o dos gestores em rela??o ? lei, marcada por desconhecimento sobre o seu objetivo e excesso de preocupa??o com o devido processo legal, n?o realizaram estudos e/ou campanhas educacionais. Visando contribuir para que o instituto (re)conhe?a a sua situa??o e promova a??es de enfrentamento, elaboram-se, como produtos educacionais, um relat?rio t?cnico, visando colaborar para encorajar investiga??o profunda sobre a exist?ncia do racismo; e, a t?tulo de apoio ? luta travada pelo NEABI, um e-book sobre as lutas dos Movimentos Negros at? a promulga??o da referida lei. The Law number 12,711/2012 (BRAZIL, 2012i) aims to promote public policy for racial equality for access to federal educational institutions, rejecting a colonial and slavery conscience that solidifies, in Brazil, with structural racism impregnated in social relations, in private and public entities. Considering that the Federal Institute of the Southeast of Minas Gerais is a public entity, it analyzes how this law was discussed and implemented. This is a qualitative research, it was used Case Study and descriptive objective methods. Some surveys were carried out In Minutes Meetings of the Higher and Teaching Councils, management reports and e-mails exchanged for managers; it was used a field diary and a questionnaire answered by those responsible for the institutionalization of the Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous Studies Center (NEABI). The answers given to the questionnaire were analyzed using the content analysis technique; the collected data are described and analyzed. It is evident that discussions about the process of implementing public policy took place punctually. There are few Minutes Meetings that registred them in syntheses, making it impossible to rescue the memory of possible conflicts around the adoption of the law. Thus, in this institution where, in 2020, 76% of the servers stated themselves white, 15% brown and 4% black, there is no documentary evidence of opposition to the adoption of so-called ?racial quotas?. In it, law enforcement was discussed by its managers ? responsible for solving bureaucratic questions about law enforcement ? and by members of NEABI ? a small group of civil servants who understand the importance of researching and discussing racism and the anti-racist struggle. It is noticed that the NEABI is a great defender that the enforcement of the Law ensure Black people access to quality Education. Even though a reduced number of civil servants and lack of its own resources, the NEABI was institutionalized in 2020. The informants draw attention to the managers? position in relation to the law, marked by lack of knowledge about its objective and excessive concern with the due legal process, they did not carry out studies and/or educational campaigns. Aiming to contribute to the institute ?admits? its situation and promoting confronting actions, a technical report is prepared, as educational products, in order to collaborate to encourage in-depth investigation into the existence of racism; and, in support of the struggle waged by the NEABI, an e-book on the struggles of the Black Movements until the enactment of the aforementioned law.
