ABSTRACT: This article offers a glance to Carlos Arturo Torres literary, aesthetic and intellectual way of thinking. Through this paper, also, the analysis that he makes about the reorientation of the contemporary thinking, starting from a positivist argumentation, will be highlighted. Then, the interpretation surrounding the intellectual development and literary history in the light of the positivist laws of constancy and transmutation will be done. At the same time, the literary notion of ideas, which explained in part the literary future, will be presented. After that, this paper will aim at the aesthetic position that motivates in the Colombian author his particular conception about the contemporary literature and the modernist movement. Finally, his aesthetic considerations about the categories of ideal and beauty and the classicist framework that encircles them, will be discussed.
