Thus, from the questions raised during the participation in the group ?PET Conex?es Baixada: dialoguing and interacting with multiple realities of the Baixada Fluminense? (PET Baixada), I considered it fundamental to research the role of Extension within the Federal Rural University of Rio Janeiro-Campus Nova Igua?u- UFRRJ / NI (inaugurated in 2006), in order to answer the question of whether it is limited only to its academic aspects or if its existence as a space of cultural diversity, knowledge, sciences, etc. it is reflected in the society in which it is inserted, mainly in the aspect of access to education and culture. In order for these questions to be answered, it was necessary to know the University that was implemented there, as well as the process of implementing a Public University in Nova Igua?u, as well as to inform and analyze what the Extension is and how its activities have been taking place in this Institution, for the purpose of examining, understanding and establishing a critical analysis of the University Extension in the Nova Igua?u Campus with reflections from the comparison between the Extension Projects, the Documents coming from the University and authors who research the theme and propose ways for the realization of the Extension in dialogue with the Community. Thus, not invalidating the route taken, but, on the contrary, understanding that the whole construction process requires time and changes, I understand that the Nova Igua?u Campus has a long way to understand the Extension and its importance, as well as the entire UFRRJ. A disserta??o ? fruto das reflex?es iniciadas no per?odo de estudos para a monografia do curso de gradua??o em Pedagogia, sendo delineadas a partir das atividades desenvolvidas em sala de aulas, nas visitas t?cnicas e discuss?es no grupo PET Conex?es de Saberes Dialogando e Interagindo com as M?ltiplas Realidades da Baixada Fluminense. Assim, a partir das indaga??es surgidas durante a participa??o no grupo ?PET Conex?es Baixada: dialogando e interagindo com m?ltiplas realidades da Baixada Fluminense? (PET Baixada), considerei fundamental pesquisar o papel de Extens?o no ?mbito da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio Janeiro-Campus Nova Igua?u- UFRRJ/NI (inaugurado no ano de 2006), a fim de responder ? quest?o de se a mesma se encontra limitada somente aos seus aspectos acad?micos ou se sua exist?ncia como um espa?o de diversidade cultural, saberes, ci?ncias, etc. se faz refletida na sociedade em que est? inserida, principalmente no aspecto de acesso ? educa??o e ? cultura. Para que estas indaga??es sejam respondidas foi necess?rio conhecer a Universidade que ali foi implementada, assim como o processo de implementa??o de uma Universidade P?blica em Nova Igua?u, como tamb?m de informar e analisar o que ? a Extens?o e como suas atividades v?m ocorrendo nessa Institui??o, por objetivo de examinar, compreender e estabelecer uma an?lise cr?tica da Extens?o Universit?ria no Campus de Nova Igua?u com reflex?es a partir do cotejamento entre os Projetos de Extens?o, os Documentos oriundos da Universidade e autoras/es que pesquisam o tema e prop?em caminhos para a realiza??o da Extens?o em di?logo com a Comunidade. Assim, n?o invalidando o percurso feito, mas, pelo contr?rio, compreendendo que todo processo de constru??o demanda tempo e mudan?as, entendo que o Campus Nova Igua?u tem um longo caminho para o entendimento da Extens?o e da sua import?ncia, assim como toda a UFRRJ.
