Discussing the aspects referent to the political image, that which through it?s force of representation allows a rupture of the domination of a visual dimension exercised in the contemporary on social media. The spectacular Society has spread to an unprecedented extent. Following Guy Debord, there is no viable exit at first, against the market entrapment of all instances of politics and, therefore, of the visible. The announcement of a dystopic future glimpsed by the taking of the human by the machines and its consequent absolute domination is given by some perspective as certain. However, investigating the sense of domination is investigating what is beyond the visible hemisphere of politics. Understanding the meaning of the broad concept involving the political image in its amplitude, its means of institution, its impacts and the possible resistances to its force are the objectives of this dissertation. When correlating the thoughts of diverse authors dedicated to the field of the image in the contemporary by observing de meanings of the social domination through the image, this work will consider other possibilities of image as force of resistance. Comprehending the technologies of domination that have been historically used, in order to delineate dimensions that are beyond the materiality of the visible that can produce different counter-hegemonic discursive horizons.
