The objective of this research is describe the tomographic imaging of intervertebral discs mineralized in Miniature Dachshund dogs with one year old and check the effect of supplementation with nutraceuticals in preventing chondroid degeneration and mineralization of IVD. Twenty puppies four months old were held for eight months in kennels with access to light. Twenty puppies divided into two groups of ten and submitted to two treatments for 240 days Nutraceuticals group (NG) received a tablet, per day, by oral route, containing chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine sulfate, manganese, sulfur, DL-methionine. Control group (CG) received a tablet, daily containing only excipient. Of the 70 disks evaluated in CG, 45 were considered as altered. In altered, location was determined in eight disks (17.77%) in nucleus pulposus, nine discs (20%) in fibrous ring and 28 discs (62, 23%) this change was in entire disk. Comparing the groups, the percentage of animals classified as calcification was higher in the CG than in NG (64.3% vs. 44.3%), a difference that for fixed margin of error (5%) was significant between the groups, with respect to present bonus (p
