Mobbing is the term used to phenomena of harassment committed by one or more persons to another person. As characteristics it has abusive conduct in the workplace through attitudes, gestures or words that might injure the physical or mental integrity of the individual who is the victim. Stress has always been present in human history, but its positive and negative effects are present in people and in the workplace. This research aims to investigate the existence and influence of mobbing over the workplace stress applied to employees in UFRRJ (Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro). In this direction, the present study had, as specific objectives, to create and validate the Brazilian Mobbing Scale for application in UFRRJ, to compare the mobbing and stress of employees as a function of the socio-demographic variables and compare the mobbing and stress of employees as a function of the working variables. The study reached 300 UFRRJ employees. To achieve the objectives of this study, the softwares SPSS v19 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences, version 19) and AMOS 19 (Analysis of Moment Structures) module were used. The results showed the influence of mobbing on the stress variable. The Brazilian Mobbing Scale was composed by three factors: Mobbing from the boss, Mobbing from colleagues and Mobbing from subordinates. The stress scale was originally tested with one-factor model, however, it was realized that the four-factor model gave a better answered to the sample. The corresponding factors are: Boss as the main source of stress, lack of good working conditions, professional devaluation and demands at work. It has been performed Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. In regards to the scale of mobbing the highest incidence was found mainly from the boss, from colleagues and, at last, from subordinates. It was noticed in the study?s participants a significant positive correlation between age and working time. Regarding the scale of stress, bad working conditions and working demands showed a strongly higher average of stress. It?s possible to say that there is an equal treatment from the bosses. Indeed, the general stress was higher in the younger employees. As a function of grender no significant difference was observed on the stress Esta pesquisa trata do estudo do mobbing e estresse no local de trabalho realizado na Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro. Foram utilizados o programa SPSS 19 (StatisticalPackage for Social Sciences, vers?o 19) e o m?dulo AMOS 19 (Analysis of Moment Structures). Foram realizadas a an?lise fatorial explorat?ria e a an?lise fatorial confirmat?ria.
