The goal is to analyze the construction of new concepts on the food chain in the face of the equilibration process using a computational model. To describe the dynamics of biological systems, a computer simulation program was developed based on the Lotka-Volterra prey-predator model. The result is the construction of new concepts by the student from the analysis of the responses of experiments and virtual situations. The pedagogical approach is developed based on the constructivism of Jean Piaget. In this perspective, the simulation model presents itself as an instrument to support the teaching of Ecology, helping to learn new concepts. The research instruments, the organization and categorization of data, favored discursive aspects, referring to the students` responses, following the guidelines of Bardin (2011). The place of study was a municipal elementary school, with 6th grade students, from the city of Manaus / Am. Based on the results obtained, it was realized that the simulation contributes to the construction of knowledge and provides good support for learning. Esta disserta????o apresenta a aplica????o de um modelo de simula????o computacional para minimizar as dificuldades do processo ensino e aprendizagem do ensino de Ecologia a partir do uso de um modelo computacional da cadeia alimentar. O objetivo ?? analisar a constru????o de novos conceitos sobre a cadeia alimentar diante do processo de equilibra????o usando um modelo computacional. Para descrever a din??mica dos sistemas biol??gicos desenvolveu-se um programa de simula????o computacional com base no modelo presa-predador de Lotka-Volterra. O resultado ?? a constru????o de novos conceitos pelo aluno a partir da an??lise das respostas de experimentos e situa????es virtuais. A abordagem pedag??gica ?? desenvolvida com base no construtivismo de Jean Piaget. Sob esta ??tica, o modelo de simula????o se apresenta como um instrumento de apoio ao ensino de Ecologia, auxiliando na aprendizagem de novos conceitos. Os instrumentos de pesquisa, a organiza????o e categoriza????o dos dados, privilegiaram aspectos discursivos, referente ??s respostas dos alunos, seguindo as orienta????es de Bardin (2011). O local de estudo foi uma escola municipal de Ensino Fundamental, com alunos do 6?? ano, da cidade de Manaus/AM. Com base nos resultados obtidos, percebeu-se que a simula????o contribui para a constru????o do conhecimento e fornece um bom suporte para o aprendizado.
