Popis: | Background: With the growth in demand of video services on the Internet and especially the IPTV service, it has become necessary for service providers to implement quality of service schemes in their core networks to guarantee the functionality of such services. To verify the functioning of the IPTV service, the research community has proposed different types of models that permit one to evaluate the quality of experience of the transmitted video. Nevertheless, the process for obtaining these models is generally based on subjective tests and the utilization of a limited number of quality of service parameters [32-40]. Therefore, this research proposes a model for measuring quality of experience based on quality of service parameters and utilizing an objective model for the evaluation of video quality. Aims: To propose a model that allows one to measure the quality of experience for an online IPTV service, so that service providers can monitor this quality of experience and make real time adjustments to guarantee optimum functioning for the end user. Method: Based on a systematic revision of the state of the art, the parameters of quality of service and the objective model were defined. Three test videos were recorded and these were transmitted in a testbed modifying the defined parameters of quality of service. The quality of experience of the videos was evaluated utilizing an objective model. The proposed model was generated with the data obtained from the quality of service parameters and the measurements obtained from the objective model. Results: With the data obtained in the experimental model, a model is generated for each test video. The proposed model allows to calculate the quality of the experience associated with the video knowing the values of the quality of service parameters (delay, jitter and packet loss) of the video analyzed. To verify the performance of each model, the results delivered by each of them are compared with subjective tests and two standardized objective methods. The results obtained indicate that there is a moderate positive correlation between the results delivered by the proposed models and the subjective tests and the standardized objective methods. Conclusions: The proposed model has the following advantages with respect to the proposals analyzed in the review of the state of the art: • It can be used to measure the quality of the online experience, without decoding the video and without resorting to subjective tests. • The computational complexity required by the model is low compared to the high computational complexity required by models based on objective methods. Since it only requires the value of the parameters of quality of service to obtain the measurement of the quality of the experience of the analyzed video. |
