Similarmente, toda prática social possui dimensões culturais e discursivas que a constituem (HALL, 1997), portanto, enquanto prática social, o ensino de língua estrangeira (LE) não poderia ser neutro. Tal processo, por tratar de línguas, é cercado pelo trânsito constante das chamadas ideologias linguísticas - crenças ou sentimentos sobre línguas (KROSKRITY, 2004). Em vista disso, o objetivo desta pesquisa é verificar as ideologias linguísticas mobilizadas por professores e aprendizes ao posicionarem-se a respeito da relação língua-cultura e suas implicações na aula de LE. Para isso, foram aplicados questionários a docentes e alunos de diferentes idiomas (e com diferentes experiências). Nesses questionários, além de fornecerem informações gerais, os participantes expressaram suas crenças e compartilharam experiências no que tange à abordagem de aspectos culturais nas aulas de LE. A partir de suas respostas, foram extraídos ideologemas (pressupostos do discurso, nos quais fundamentam-se as ideologias linguísticas). Pôde-se identificar muitas similaridades entre os ideologemas dos professores e dos alunos, contudo, diferenças significativas também foram observadas. Com este trabalho, pretende-se instigar o aprofundamento das discussões relacionadas à abordagem de aspectos culturais no ensino de LE. Language and its uses are essentially ideological. Similarly, every social practice is constituted by cultural and discursive dimensions (HALL, 1997). Therefore, foreign language teaching (FLT) - being a social practice itself - cannot be neutral. Such process, for it deals with languages, is surrounded by language ideologies - beliefs or feelings about languages (KROSKRITY, 2004). That being said, this work aims at verifying the language ideologies expressed by teachers and learners when expressing their points of view about the relationship of language and culture and its implications for FLT. In order to do so, teachers and students of different languages (and with different experiences) answered questionnaires, in which they described their background information, expressed their beliefs and shared experiences related to approaching cultural aspects in FLT. Ideologemes (discourse assumptions, upon which language ideologies are built) were identified from their answers. It was possible to spot various similarities between teachers’ and learners’ ideologemes, however, significant differences were also observed. This work intends to instigate deeper discussions when it comes to approaching cultural aspects in FLT. |
