The objective of this study was to assess the importance of knowledge of hypercholesterolemia and its correction for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Research tasks: to evaluate knowledge of patients with an increased level of cholesterol on hypercholesterolemia and change of knowledge 3 months later; to evaluate risk to develop cardiovascular diseases for the patients according life style and diet, and change 3 months later; to evaluate SCORE for the patients; to establish relation of patients’ knowledge with the risk of CV diseases and change 3 months later. Research methodology. The research was carried out in 2014-2015 in Santariškių Klinikos. Method: a questionnaire. Research conclusions. The knowledge of hypercholesterolemia of both groups before the training differed greatly: knowledge of reference group was average, and that of the control group- good. 3 months later the knowledge significantly improved. Most of the patients belonged to average risk group according to life style and low risk group according to diet. According to SCORE, most patients belonged to average risk group, a third of them belonged to low risk group, more than a fifth-very high risk. The knowledge of both groups with higher cardiovascular risk according to life style was poorer. 3 months later the knowledge of both patients groups according to life style and the knowledge of low risk group according to diet significantly improved. The knowledge of high risk patients group according to SCORE was significantly poorer than that of the control group. |
