Popis: The aim of research – Perform comparative analysis of drugs, made in Valmiera (Latvian) and Viekšniai (Lithuanian) pharmacies in year 1917 and 1918. Tasks of research: To reveal in Valmiera and in Viekšniai pharmacies in 1917 and 1918 manufactured drugs pharmaceutical composition, to determine what components were used in the manufacture of medicines in Valmiera pharmacy, to determine the origin of ingredients, drugs forms, to compare research results with Viekšnių pharmacy drugs used in the manufacture of components origin forms. Object and methods of research: Object of research – selected 100 recipes content of Valmiera pharmacy recipes registration journal of 1917. In this paper were studied drug composition, form, variety and origins of components, used in the manufacture of medicinal products, recorded in 1917. During research, historical research was applied, completed content analysis data of the initial source of Valmiera pharmacy recipes in the book of registered drug was analyzed statistically used Microsoft Office Excel and 2013 and SPSS 23.0 programs. The data obtained were compared with G. Jakutienė study \"Comparative analysis of drugs, produced in Viekšniai pharmacy in 1918 and 1934. For analysis, performed on investigational pharmaceutical substances, Pharmacopeia of Lithuania was used, which released in 1938. Results: The analysis of the 100-prescription medicinal products to Valmiera registration book defines the dosage form is prescribed by doctors to their patients. Mostly prescribed form was powder, the powder registered in 25 recipes, 25% of all the tested formulation. Completion of 1917 year Valmiera drug formulation jornal analysis defines, which dosage form has been issued, the quantity of components formed recipe, what components were used in medicaments. Results of completed drugs form analysis: powder 25% tincture 19%, mixture 14%, ointment 9%, external use ointment 1% drops 9% solution for external use of 8% solution is administered parenterally 8% tablets 2% pills 3% capsule 2 %. The analysis summarized data derived from Microsoft Office Excel, registrated used 276 components. Prescription component compositional analysis results: recipes consist of a single component of 25%, recipes containing 2-3 components 58% recipes consist of four or more components of 17%. The analysis of drug formulations magazine recorded 98 chemical components of origin (35.5% of all investigated components), recorded 26 cases of excipients recipes, herbal ingredients registered 82 times (29.7% of all investigated components), narcotic origin or potent substances registered 42 times , 38 different recipes, which accounts for 38% of all tested recipes. Often used raw materials and materials: pharmaceutical valerian, lily of the valley, marsh-mallow,quinine, morphine, caffeine, Dover powder, chemical compounds, organic and inorganic salts, acids. Conclusions: Completed examination of recipes components origin concludes, that in 1917 in Ryga pharmacy variety of components and the drug form was wider, than in 1918 Viekšniai pharmacy recipes components. Results of the study reveals increased chemical materials originating in the production of drugs and growing demand of chemical materials . The doctors give their patients a variety of organic and inorganic salts, acids, alkaloids, complex composition of drugs. A variety of chemical components reflect scientific advances.
