The aim and tasks of the study: The aim of this study is to evaluate clinical symptoms, frequency and nature of hypersensitivity to food in adult patients with pollinosis. The first task is to identify frequency of hypersensitivity reactions to food in adult patients with pollinosis. The second task is to determine which foods most commonly cause hypersensitivity reactions to food among adult patients with pollinosis. The third task is to evaluate clinical symptoms of food allergy among adult patients with pollinosis. The fourth task is to determine the frequency of food allergy and clinical symptoms according to the nature of sensitization to respiratory allergen. Methodology: The participants of the study were adult patients (≥ 18 years old) with pollinosis. The research methodology was based on a questionnaire interview conducted by telephone and face to face. 62 questionnaires were collected. The study data was processed by the programs of Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics. Quantitative and qualitative analytical methods were performed. Results: 42 (67,7 %) participants in the study were allergic to food. 38 (61,3 %) participants in the study were allergic to plant food. Fruits, nuts and vegetables most commonly cause allergy to plant foods among patients with pollinosis (32 (36,36 %), 23 (26,14 %), 14 (15,91 %) respectively). Oral allergy syndrome, skin rash and pruritus, shortness of breath and dyspnea are the most common symptoms (26 (37,14 %), 18 (25,71 %), 13 (18,57 %) respectively). Conclusions of the study: 1. Among patients with pollinosis and experiencing allergic reactions to food, the most common (> 90 %) is hipersensitivity to plant foods. 2. Fruits (36,36 %), nuts (26,14 %) and vegetables (15,91 %) most commonly cause allergy to plant foods between patients with pollinosis. 3. Oral allergy syndrome (37,14 %) is the most common symptom of allergy to plant food between patients with pollinosis. Skin rash and pruritus (25,71 %), shortness of breath and dyspnea (18,57 %) occur less frequently. 4. Among people suffering from pollinosis, food allergies are more commonly found in people who are allergic to birch pollen, and oral allergy syndrome is the main expression of allergy to plant food in this group. |
