Academic adviser: Dr. Tomas Biržietis Place of internship: at the Kaunas Clinics Obstetrics and Gynecology department, Neonatology department of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. Purpose of the research paper: to analyse the relation of time when the gestational diabetes was found in a mother and what complications arose from it during the pregnancy and post-delivery to newborn. Tasks of the research paper: 1. To establish the relation of complications of delivery to the time of GD diagnosis establishment. 2. To interpret the most common complications of GD to its time of diagnosis establishment. 3. To evaluate the complications that arose in a newborn due to his or her mother’s GD. Methods used in the research paper: The data on mothers with GD and their newborn at the Kaunas Clinics Obstetrics and Gynecology department of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences was assessed retrospectively. In this aper, GD diagnosis establishment time, type of the delivery, and complications during pregnancy and later on for the newborn were evaluated.
