In Russia the holy sources are widely used for the religious purposes, and they are widely represented on the territory of the Belgorod Region. This research is devoted to studying of holy springs of the Belgorod Region, and also to their current state evaluation and prospects of their using as objects of religious tourism. The field survey of 52 holy springs was conducted, their sanitary condition was assessed, their debit and the number of parameters of spring water were also determined and the passports of springs were composed. Evaluation of parameters of sanitary-technical condition of the spring in the area of its recharge was conducted on the basis of the classification devised by the Moscow State Exploration Academy. It was revealed that the most of the studied springs belong to the basins of the Oskol and Seversky Donets Rivers. The springs with the satisfactory rating of sanitary-technical condition dominate, and most of them have minimal debit, all high debit springs belong to the chalk aquifer rocks. The water of springs is characterized by neutral reaction, the total mineralization is within normal limits, but sometimes there is bacterial contamination. The average concentration of nitrates in the waters of springs is 0.5 MPC. Nitrate concentration in the water of 16% of the studied springs exceeded MPC, so they can be recommended only for ablutions.Holy sources are characterized by their using in religious purposes. The presence of chapels and the fonts (including closed ones) in the areas adjacent to the springs can attribute the springs to the perspective objects of religious tourism of the excursion cognitive orientation. On the objects where nitrate or bacterial contamination of waters was found, it is necessary to set signs warning the population about the exceeding of some parameters of the waters of springs and wells and advising to use the water only for ablutions but not for drinking. |
