| Popis: | The paper highlights modern view on etiopathogenesis of periodontal inflammatory diseases. Local protective mechanisms and immunocompetence of the oral cavity are described. Factors of innate and adaptive immunity in development of periodontal diseases are demonstrated. Major types of the immune disorders in inflammatory diseases are discussed. Bacterial antigens inducing host immune response are described. The paper shows regulatory role of T-helpers in maintaining alveolar bone homeostasis. The role of cytokines as mediators of bone resorption and chemokines as molecules selectivly attracting immune cells to inflammation site is demonstrated. The mechanisms of osteoclasts activation, osteoclasts role in chronic periodontitis development are specified. |
