Pulmonary rehabilitation plays important role in the treatment of patients with COPD. The study conducted at Federal State Institution Research Institute of Pulmonology of the Federal Medical Biological Agency (Russia, Moscow) aimed to assess how training influenced markers of systemic inflammation and testosterone in patients with COPD. The study included 31 patients with severe and very severe COPD. 16 patients were administered drug therapy and physical rehabilitation and 15 patients were administered only drug therapy. The first group showed an improvement in 6-MWT by 80 m, FEV1 by 13%, equilibrium capacity by 14%, residual volume by 30%, markers of systemic inflammation, and testosterone level.
