Popis: This study was performed to compare the pulmonary functions, motor skills and functional status of individuals with Down Syndrome (DS) with healthy individuals and to analyze the relationship between pulmonary functions, respiratory muscle strength, motor skills and functional status of children with Down Syndrome. The study included 26 children with DS and 30 healthy children ranging in age from 7 to 18. The respiratory muscle strength was evaluated by Maximum Inspiratory Pressure (MIP) and Maximum Expiratory Pressure (MEP), pulmonary functions by Pulmonary Function Test (PFT), motor skills by Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, Short Form of Second Edition (BOT-2, Short Form), and functional status by Pediatric Functional Independence Measure (WeeFIM). Although the pulmonary functions of FVC, FEV1 values significantly decreased in children with DS (p0.05). Respiratory muscle strength, motor skills and functional status, apart from the transfers, of children with DS were worse than their peers (p0.05). However, there were significant relationship between the FVC levels, inspiratory muscle strength and motor skill levels. Statically significant correlations were determined between general body coordination and FVC, and among inspiratory muscle strength and manual coordination, strength-agility (p0,05).
